The Need

Team Approach: assisting with resources, community referrals, and effective clinician collaborations

In the State of Virginia: an estimated 5,957 individuals experiencing homelessness (United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, 2021). Hampton Virginia participates in the Greater Virginia Peninsula Homelessness Consortium. Major gains between 2011 and 2017: Based on Annual Counts, there has been:

  • 35 % ↓ in the number of homeless people.
  • 70 % ↓ in the number of homeless veterans; and
  • 84 % of the homeless are sheltered (at least temporarily, during the coldest months) through A Night’s Welcome and Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions, Inc. (H.E.L.P.)

Exact count of unhoused in Hampton, VA is unknown at this time (The COVID-19 Pandemic has added to the count confusion)
